Here are some of the Typical issues concerning Virus Infections
Viruses are the colds and flus of computer security, once a computer has been infected it tends to act sluggish and possibly run unwanted programs.
Now there are a few different types of "Viruses" although they may not be technically a virus. There are spyware and adware along with malware roaming around in the digital world waiting to find an easy host to infect.
Spyware installs itself onto a user's computer by stealth, subterfuge and/or social engineering and sends information from that computer to a third party without the user's permission or knowledge.
Adware displays advertising - such as pop-up messages - which affects user productivity and system efficiency.
Typical 'Symptoms' of a viral infection includes sluggish speeds, unwanted behavior (as in random programs running, popping up, unwanted internet pages loading), fake warnings, system errors, and crashing.
Diagnosis: There are various programs out there that will scan your machine for viruses. One program that we support fully is called Vipre. It is a Antivirus, AntiSpyware and Antimalware program in one convienient package. Why install multiple programs that may interfere with each other when you can get all that they do plus more with support from local virus experts that you can actually understand.
Warning! There are programs out there that pose as an antivirus but really they just open the door for more infections to enter. These are known as rogue programs. Some are known to pop up with a window that appears to be scanning your PC and then states that your machine is infected. What ever you do, do not click on those windows. Below is a screen shot of a Rogue Program that is 'Scanning'. Click HERE to view a list of other known rogue security programs.
